Drawing and walking and investigating the edgelands of Manchester city centre. Your inclusion in this will form part of a case study within my PhD research, more information on this will be provided on the day. I'll be particularly interested in exploring unusual happenings in the land, that we can all experience together. Bring something to draw with and an open mind.

Launching at the Community Hive Gallery this Friday 13th is an exhibition of creative work by staff from University of Bolton’s School of Arts and Creative Technology. This eclectic show has a wide range of work from embroidery to installation, sculpture to design, and photography to illustration. If you want a great way to start your weekend there will be an opening event on Friday 13th September at 5pm to launch the exhibition!

Echoes and Imprints of Burrs Country Park, as part of the Sunnywood Summer Festival

During the festival there will be three guided group walks, followed by a reflective session where all work made during the walk will be added to a collaborative, co-created piece of installation art, to be exhibited as part of the summer festival.

Two sketchbook walks around Springwater Park in Whitefield designed to encourage positive mental health and wellbeing in the chilly and challenging winter months. We will be using walking, mark-making and togetherness to explore deeper connections between ourselves and the unique landscape at Springwater Park. Suitable for all ages and levels of ability. Supported by local Councillor Elizabeth Fitzgerald through the discretionary funding grant.
SPRINGWATER SKETCHBOOK WALKS #13 - Halloween
Sunday 30th October 2022, 2-4pm at Springwater Park, Whitefield
This is the first of two bonus Springwater Sketchbook Walks, after having some Arts Council funding remaining after the 12 month project. Come and soak up the Autumn atmosphere with us by using walking, drawing, and togetherness to explore ghost stories and fragments of local history in the wild and wonderful Springwater Park.
Willaston meadow sketchbook walk
Saturday 22nd October 2022, 1-4pm at Willaston, Cheshire
A short walk around the large meadow in Willaston to coincide with Apple Day 2022 using three different ideas to use mark-making as a tool for exploring a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us. All ages and abilities welcome and materials will be provided. All you will need is yourself, a willingness to do a bit of walking, and most importantly, an open mind.

The exhibition will include drawings, paintings, photography, and sound art from 17 local artists that have attended Springwater Sketchbook Walks - a series of monthly guided walks through the wild and wonderful Springwater Park in Whitefield, that use drawing and walking to explore the woodland and provide a sense of a creative community spirit.
Tickets are required from the Whitefield Garrick to see the show after the public opening days in October.

A gentle 3-mile stroll to coincide with World Mental Health Awareness Day and the end of this year’s Month of Hope. Along the way there will be 3 or 4 sketching stops where we will explore different approaches to mark-making that consider different aspects of journeying and way-marking. art from the garden with rethink mental illness

Open and inclusive summer sketchbook activities at Plant NOMA in Manchester city centre, using drawing and mark-making to respond to urban gardening. The sessions are free and open to anyone in Greater Manchester affected by mental illness either through lived experience or as a carer, but places are limited. SUMMERSEAT SKETCHBOOK WALK
Sunday 10th July 2022, 2-3pm at The Art Studio Summerseat
This short 1 mile sketchbook walk takes in a small section of Summerseat's wild and wonderful trails and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Before setting off you will be guided through the process of making a tiny 8-page sketchbook, with which we will use natural artefacts for mark-making, as we ditch the pencils in favour of flowers, grass, bark, and other found ephemera. Part of the open day at The Art Studio Summerseat, free entry, and materials provided.

Take Root is a new, six-week series from the Sunnywood Project that provides the opportunity to Explore, Conserve and Admire our stunning green spaces in collaboration with local artists and the National Trust. As part of this series I’ll be leading mark-making workshops on the top of Holcombe Moor in the middle of a guided 4-6 mile hike or run.

Responding to the unique geographical phenomena in the centre of Stockport, this is a guided one-mile walk that encourages the use of drawing and mark-making to consider the natural flow of time at the meeting of the three rivers, the Goyt, Tame, and Mersey. Using found images from magazines and books alongside paint, you'll be encouraged to create new stories and narratives using collage as a way to alter meaning and paint as a way to change perspectives. All materials will be provided, and is suitable for all levels of ability.

In this workshop we will be exploring abstract picture designs through playful and intuitive mark-making techniques. You will be guided through the process of clearing your head of images, and avoiding the recognisable when discovered. In this session, we’re not interested in painting a thing, but recognising that the painting can be the thing.
